John Earl Sullivan 1933-2024 John Earl Sullivan, 90, was born November 23, 1933 to Claude Huey and Ethel (Jenkins) Sullivan in Meridian, Mississippi. John passed away February 21, 2024 at his home in Elk City, Oklahoma.

John was raised in Jackson, Mississippi and graduated in 1952 from Forest Hill High School. He tried some college, then entered the United States Air Force on March 26, 1953. He attended the USAF Technology School, where he learned aircraft mechanic skills. John attained the rank of Staff Sergeant during his military service. One of the places he was stationed was Tucson, Arizona, where he met Marjorie Anne Ball. They married on November 17, 1956 and were soon transferred to Marietta, Georgia, where they welcomed their son, Mark Clay Sullivan on November 4, 1957. Following four years in the USAF, John was discharged and moved his family to Tucson, Arizona. John and Marjorie spent the bulk of their 65-year marriage in Tucson, until her death in October 2022, not long after they'd moved to Elk City, Oklahoma in April 2022 to be near their grandchildren. John's occupation for most of his life was as a Commercial Electrical Construction Estimator. In March 1960, he became an electrician and joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He worked for Papago Power, then retired in December 1995 after serving as project manager for Sturgeon Electric.

John was interested in hunting, shooting, golf, camping, riding dirt bikes and ATVs, photography and art. For over 20 years, he donated his nature-themed artwork for fundraising auctions benefiting The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. Traveling was a passion John and Marjorie shared. During the course of their marriage, they traveled extensively throughout the United States, visiting most of the national parks. They enjoyed places with cooler weather, after living in the hot Arizona desert since the 1950s.

John was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marjorie Anne (Ball) Sullivan in 2022, son Mark Clay Sullivan in 1998, and infant great-granddaughter Scout Hope Sullivan in 2020.

He is survived by: daughter-in-law Belinda Carpenter Sullivan of Elk City; grandchildren Frank Clay Sullivan and wife Patsy of Elk City, Jesi Elise Sullivan Robison and husband Norman of Beaver, Oklahoma, Jon Mark Sullivan and wife Jordan of Elk City; great-grandchildren Daymon Carlisle and wife Brittney; Taylor Anne, Kendrick Clay, Mark Henry and Frankie Jo Sullivan; Ian Edmond Ibrom; Sawyer Grace and Quincy Belle Sullivan; several nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
