John Phillip Turnes was born August 22nd, 1941 in Hammond, Indiana to Marion Elizabeth (Kaminski) and Jules Lawrence Turnes. He passed away at his home in Burns Flat, Oklahoma on Wednesday, April 12th, 2023 at the age of 81 years, 7 months and 21 days.

John grew up in Hammond, Indiana where he attended school. He worked in the chemical industry and the steel mills after high school. John moved around quite extensively following employment and spent some years with Barron as a cost estimator in the construction industry. On September 2, 2000 he was married to Wilmas Louise (Croteau) at Burns Flat, Oklahoma. Together they spent many years moving around following John's job. While in Arkansas they enjoyed raising alpaca's and also gardening, dancing, and spending time with the family that was around him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; step son, Terry Whitaker.

John is survived by his wife, Wilma, of the home; 8 children, Jaqueline, Cynthia, Dawn, Heather, Michael, Dusty, Felicia, and Julie; 4 step children, Linda, Gary, and Cyndi; 16 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 1 great great granddaughter on the way; 1 brother, Jim Turnes and a host of other relatives and friends.
