John Horace Hartman was born March 23rd, 1956 in Elk City, Oklahoma to Gaylia June (Graham) and Johnnie Eugene Hartman. He passed away in Elk City, Oklahoma on Saturday, December 17th, 2022 at the age of 66 years, 8 months and 24 days.
John grew up in Sayre, Oklahoma until the age of 4 when he moved with his family to Albuquerque, New Mexico. He attended Eldorado High School graduating in 1974. After graduation he moved back to Sayre, Oklahoma where he helped his father manage the family oil and gas leasing business. He was married to Terry Lynne (Cox) in January of 1980. In 1987 he began working at Otasco. Together, Terry and John made their home in Sayre and later in Ponca City, Oklahoma where he worked in business. After Terry's passing in March of 1997, John later came to Sayre and purchased Otasco. John moved to various places landing in Cooper and Sherman, Texas where he was a passionate and driven Furniture sales associate for 20 plus years. After retirement John returned to Sayre in March of 2022 to cherish his time with immediate family. John had a passion for baseball all of his life. He loved to play softball and started the Sayre softball league in 1980 which lasted over 20 years, while competing in state. He also loved to coach kids baseball and took the boys little league to championship levels. He enjoyed cooking, hunting, fishing, playing guitar, watching the Texas Rangers, classic Fords, but his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; 2 brothers, George and Bill Hartman.
John is survived by his 3 children, Johnathan Hartman and wife, Tristan, Elk City, OK, Rebekah Hartman, Sherman, TX, and Jeremiah Hartman and wife, Caitlyn, Elk City, OK; 11 grandchildren, Tasiah, Riely, Addison, Jaden, Jaxton, Newley, Wyatt, Phoenix, Prezley, Jettson, and Julian; 2 sister, Vivien Kennedy and husband Red, and Rosanna Arganbright and husband, Billy; Vic Kline life-long family friend and colleague, Sayre, OK and a host of other family and friends.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 7th, 2023 at 2:00 PM and the Sayre First Christian Church officiated by Eric Easter. Arrangements are under the direction of Chris Whinery and the staff of Affordable Cremation Service-West. Condolences can be made online at www.classicfunerals.com
John will be remembered as a pillar to the Hartman family, an excellent chef, and a man who can fix anything. He touched many lives and will be dearly missed by all.
