John grew up south of Erick as the second youngest with his five brothers Leroy, Leon, Kenneth, Glen, Don and one sister Jane. He attended school in Erick. On November 16, 1957, he married Reva May Stone at the Buffalo Baptist Church in Sweetwater, OK and to this union three children were born Johnnie, Rocky, and Randy. He was a jack of all trades and held many various jobs such as automobile mechanic for Lalicker Chevrolet, managed the shipping and logistics for Collins and Aikman, field service mechanic for Swaco, managed manufacturing facilities for Robertsons, and for the last 10 years, before he retired, he drove a truck for Hamm and Phillips.

John was saved and baptized when he was 13 at the Erick First Baptist Church. He was an active member of the Burns Flat Baptist Church. Shortly before his retirement, John was diagnosed with the final stages of cancer and given 30 days to live. John convalesced in the mountains of Angel Fire, New Mexico and stretched that 30 days into 20 years. John loved anything with a motor especially if it was loud. He was a past president of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association.

John and Reva had visited forty nine of the fifty states, only lacking Alaska, with him driving and her reading the map. He loved going to the stock car races and playing with his dune buggies in the North Fork River beds. He preferred to spend his time outdoors. Whether it being hunting, fishing, or just hot rodding in his truck. When not traveling, he spent most of his time remodeling his and Reva's home..... with anything she could dream up.

He is preceded in death by his wife Reva, parents James and Katie Greer, brothers Leroy, Leon, Kenneth, Glen, Don, and sister Jane.

John is survived by his children Johnnie Greer (local), Rocky Greer and wife Coletta of Sweetwater, OK, and Randy Greer and wife Karen of Olathe, KS; grandchildren Rocsy Carlisle (Chris) and their children Zoe and Abby, Heidi Jo McManaman (Clint) and their children Conner and Maylee, Cory Lynne Myers (Aaron) and their children Elli Kate and Ana Beth, Brandy Norris and her children Jaylinn and Braydn, Val Yoder (Elijah) and their children Titan and Cash, Kristi Janeway (Jevyn) and their children Jayten and Hayden; many nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
