John
Anderson
Sep 11, 1956 — Jul 25, 2026
John Marshall Anderson was born in Erick, OK on September 11, 1956 to James Hersel (JH) and Betty Jean (Barham) Anderson. He passed from this life on July 25, 2026 at his home in Sweetwater, OK at the age of 69 years, 10 months, and 14 days. He grew up and spent his life in Sweetwater. John was a mama's boy and never ventured too far from the family farm where he partnered with his dad for many years.
In his early years, you could find him hunting or fishing with his brothers or his buddies or driving around on the dirt roads being boys. In his 20's he enjoyed trapping and fur trading. John had many stories to tell about those times of his life. John was never short of friends and had a way of making people feel special. No matter where he went he would find someone to strike up a conversation with. He always had something funny to say and was fun to be around.
He married Margie Kirk on April 24, 1987 in Wheeler, TX. John and Marg farmed and raised cattle and parakeets. They spent their marriage working side by side. John brought three young girls to this union and together they raised Heather, Amber, and Lindsey in Sweetwater. John was the ultimate "girl dad".
In recent years, he enjoyed his morning social meetings with his buddies at Keathley's Korner. He also took up woodworking and had become a pretty good carpenter, but the highlights of his life were his grandchildren who referred to him as Grandad. John liked attending their events, but most of all he enjoyed poking fun at them, hugging their necks, and challenging them to a game of Wahoo.
John was the rock of his family and his absence will leave a void that can never be filled. He will be loved and missed every day.
John was preceded in death by his parents J.H. and Betty Anderson, grandparents Edna Anderson, Garnet and Ollie Anderson, B.K. and Grace Barham, and aunt Norma Zellmer and granddaughter London Smith.
He is survived by his wife of the home Margie Anderson; three daughters Heather McNeil and husband Ryan of Wheeler, TX, Amber Chavez and husband Chris of Sayre, OK, and Lindsey Anderson of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren Laney and Clay White, Marshall McNeil, Maddie McNeil, Braden McNeil, Alex Chavez, Justine Chavez, Stone Mackey, and Colton Taylor; brothers Pat Anderson and Brenda Andris, Larry and Threase Anderson, brother and sister-in-law Sharon and Dickie Tignor; sister-in-law Nelda Kirk; special friends Randy and Crystal McEntire, Chloe and Rance; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
