MSGT Joseph William Lind Sr. US Army Retired, was born July 17th, 1937, in Pontiac, Illinois to Reva Mable (Hollahan) and Lester Lawrence Joseph Lind. He passed away at his home in Elk City, Oklahoma on Friday, January 31st, 2025, at the age of 87 years, 6 months and 14 days.

Joseph, known by most as "Joe", grew up in Pontiac, Illinois where he attended school. During his high school days, Joe was an outstanding baseball player who was picked up by the Cleveland Indians AAA farm team to play in Canada. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the United States Army where he saw active duty in Vietnam and was also stationed in Korea during his 23 year career. It was during his assignment in Germany that he met Ursula (Denzer). They were later married on January 13th, 1960, in Lampertheim, Germany. They remained in Germany where they began their family and throughout his career they resided in various states including, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, Alaska, Michigan, Georgia, Louisiana, and Pennsylvania. Joe was honorably discharged in 1978 and found employment with A.N.R. Pipe Line Company landing the family in Elk City, Oklahoma where they made their home. In 1993, Joe formally retired and enjoyed working in his yard, traveling, bowling, fishing, camping, and grilling. Above all, Joe enjoyed his grandchildren and spending time with them and the rest of his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers; 1 sister, and 1 granddaughter, Sydney Dykes.

Joe is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ursula, of the home; 5 children, Susan Dykes and husband, Steve, Cataula, GA, Debbie Moore and husband, Cliff, Columbus, GA, Joe Lind, Jr. and wife, Linda, Crosby, TX, Terry Lind, Kingwood, TX, and Mary Winn and husband, Phil, Elk City, OK; 9 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Dorothy Jackson, and Katy Richardson and a host of other relatives and friends.
