Joe Edwin Paty was born July 5, 1934 in Willow, Oklahoma to Nonie Hood and Roland Paty. He passed away Sunday, July 10th, 2022 in Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 88 years and 5 days. Joe grew up in Willow, Oklahoma and attended school at Ocina and graduated in 1953. He enlisted in the National Guard and served from 1952 to 1957. After graduation, he moved to the Carter community and was married to Jean Dyer. To that union they had two children, Rhonda Kay and Max Edwin. It was during this time he moved to Woodward, Oklahoma for a short time and began bulldozing starting a 60 plus year career of working on a bulldozer. In 1968, he attended Reisch Auction College in Mason City, Iowa, where he obtained his auctioneering certificate. Joe was later married, to Louise Hill Porter at Carter, Oklahoma on May 18th, 1973. After their marriage they built a house in the Carter community where they made their home. Joe served on the Beckham County Rural Water Board from 1979 thru 1983 and also as Beckham County commissioner from 1991 - 1995. Even though Joe was civic- minded, he always enjoyed raising cattle, caring for the land and machinery on his farm, and being a member of the Willow United Methodist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Rex Paty and Malcolm Paty; 2 grandsons, Mitchell Brown and Cody Vaught. He is survived by his wife, Louise, of the home; 5 children, Rhonda Porter, Oklahoma City, OK, Max Paty, Elk City, OK, LaDonna Vaught, Carter, OK, Ronnie Porter, Carter, OK, and Sharla Porter, Elk City, OK; 7 grandchildren, Jamie Suthers, Jared Porter, Heather Rutherford, Rodney Vaught, Colter Vaught, Tara Dyer, and Lindsay Porter; 21 great-grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; sister, Lenora Ann Fite, Willow, OK and a host of other relatives and friends. The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Carter Fire Department, P.O. Box 239, Carter, OK 73627 Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 14th, 2022, at 10:00 AM at Willow Methodist Church officiated by Scotty Northrup.
