Joan Marie Kos was born June 30th, 1937 in Elk City, Oklahoma to Marie Lucille (Mahl) and Louis Andrew Scheidemantel. She passed away Saturday, August 9th, 2025 in Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 88 years, 1 month and 10 days.

Joan grew up in Canute, Oklahoma where she attended Holy Family High School graduating in 1956. It was during her senior year of high school she was married to Lloyd Schneberger on March 5th, 1955 making their home on a farm south of Canute. After graduation she began her family and continued to be a homemaker. In the late 1960's she began working for the Western VoTech in Burns Flat, Oklahoma. Joan always loved her time there in Burns Flat and spoke of it often. In 1974, she was married to Whit Friese until his untimely death in January of 1979. Joan was later married to Maurice John Kos on November 16th, 1979 in Elk City, Oklahoma and they continued to make their home in the Canute community. Joan worked side by side her husband in the machine shop that he owned and operated. They primarily repaired anything metal in the agriculture and oil and natural gas industries. In the early 1980's, Joan furthered her education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University where she received her bachelors degree in criminology. In 1998 she retired and could be found enjoying gardening plants, vegetable, fruit and nut trees, and relaxing watching her fish. Joan's most enjoyable times were spent with her friends and family and being a member of the St. Matthew Catholic Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Maurice; 2 step-sons, Rick Kos and Jim Kos; 1 brother, Johnny Scheidemantel; 1 sister, Annette Cooper.

Joan is survived by her children, Carl Schneberger, Weatherford, OK, Bart Schneberger, Nome, AK, Brett Schneberger and wife, Trina, Canute, OK, Cliff Schneberger, Bethany, OK, Beth Goetz and husband, John, Edmond, OK, Jane Brewer and husband, ReDon, Elk City, OK, Candice Orr and husband, Frank, Slaughterville, OK; 21 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Andy Scheidemantel and Steve Scheidemantel; 1 sister, Susan Ochse and a host of other relatives and friends.
