J.L. Shinault was born July 4th, 1961 in Elk City, Oklahoma to Jerry Shinault and Charlotte Ann (Farrell). His entire life he was raised by J Schones. He passed away Tuesday, June 7th, 2022 in Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 60 years, 11 months and 3 days.
J.L. grew up in Elk City where he attended schools and participated on the Big Elk Baseball team playing shortstop. He graduated in May of 1979 and shortly was married to Linda (Starnes) on June 5, 1980. They made their home west of Elk City and had one son, Joshua. In 1981, J.L. began working with J Schones, his dad, at J Schones Used Cars. He spent the next 41 years buying, selling, and trading cars. When not at the car lot, J.L. enjoyed working on his muscle cars and trucks, being a mechanic for his grandson on his dirt bike, hunting, fishing, shooting pool and spending time with his family and friends. He was loved and cherished as a son, husband, father, and papa.
He is preceded in death by both of his fathers, Jerry Shinault and J Schones.
J.L. is survived by his wife, Linda, of the home; son, Josh Shinault and companion, Rose Cummings, Elk City, OK; 2 grandchildren, Jake Shinault and Lizzy Shinault; his mother, Charlotte Workman; twin sisters, Jeanne Williams and Janet Stanton; one brother, Frank Shinault and a host of other relatives and numerous friends.
