James Elbert Hanes, 74, of Foss, OK passed away following a lengthy hospitalization on March 10, 2023 at River Valley Skilled Nursing and Therapy in Clinton, Oklahoma.

James was born on September 14, 1948 to Bosco and Ruby Viola Hanes in Ponca City, Oklahoma.

Jim grew up in Ponca City, Oklahoma and after high school he worked for Ditchwitch while working as a EMT and firefighter. He moved to western Oklahoma in 1979 working in the oil field and then received his LPN license. He worked at the VA Hospital, Clinton Regional Hospital before working for Great Plains Regional Medical Center for 20 years. He married Virginia (Morse) on August 24, 2000 in Foss, Oklahoma. After his retirement he worked at Homeland the past eleven years before his retirement in September of 2022. He attended the H.O.S.T. Ministries in Clinton, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 daughter, Kathryn Marie Andrews and 1 great grandson, Keegan Andrews.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia, 1 daughter, Mary Christine James, Foss, OK, 1 son, James Elbert Hanes, Riverton, Utah, 2 step sons, Jerry Lynn Rorick, Rocky, OK, Garron Rorick, Jasper, Michigan, 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of Jim to the family to help with medical bills and final expenses.
