Jewell Dean
Mccoy
Jun 29, 1933 — Apr 1, 2025
Jewell Dean McCoy was born June 29, 1933 on the family farm, south of Reydon, Oklahoma, to Jessie Mae (Gray) and Charles Everett Cline. She passed away on Monday, April 1st, 2025 at Sayre, Oklahoma at the age of 91 years, 9 months and 3 days.
Jewell Dean, known as Nanny, was many things throughout her life, daughter, sister, Aunt Deanie, wife to a great man that she loved fiercely, she never forgot him and bragged about until the day she left, mother to two children that never stopped being her pride and joy in life, telephone operator dental hygienist, dairy farm owner, and rancher but the job she took the most serious and was most vocal about was Nanny.
She was adamant that she was going to be a grandmother but her first grandchild tried to feed her bananas and decided on the new name and it stuck. She was made for this job and was a great protector of her "wild Indians" as she called all of them. C.E. (granddad) had them on horses soundly at or about the same time they started to walk. In a time before cell phones and locating devices she was the worlds best tracker. Jewell Dean never hesitated to walk, ride a three wheeler, or drive a vehicle while honking or yelling names all over every acre of land they owned to find them. In later years, she would call friends, neighbors and other family members to ask "have you seen…." until she found them and knew they were safe and sound. In those wild years she reminded them many times everyday how loved they were by her and by Jesus. She made sure they understood how to be nice to everyone, but taught them all to have a backbone, and the proper way to use "Well bless their hearts anyway".
Later when she started getting great grands they were even more special to her and never failed to be the most handsome or beautiful things she'd ever seen!! Everyone loved her vintage slang and passed it along to their friends.
She is preceded her parents; husband, C.E. McCoy, Jr.; son, Dennis McCoy; 2 brothers, Chester and Charles Cline; 1 sister, Adelle Cline.
Jewell Dean is survived by her daughter, Charla Kay Cooprider and husband, Ronnie, Sayre, OK; 4 grandchildren, Darla Rogers and husband, Brant, Dempsey, OK, Wesley Powers and wife, Junita, Sweetwater, OK, Monica Bentley, Chickasha, OK and Kattie Welch and husband, Davie, Elk City, OK; 6 great grandchildren, Cooper Rogers and wife, Calleigh, Amarillo, TX, Casen Rogers, Weatherford, OK, Hadley McCoy, El Reno, OK, Grant Powers, Sweetwater, OK, Guthrie Powers, Sweetwater, OK, Tailee Jewell Finnell, Canute, OK, Charles Welch, Elk City, OK and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
