Janice Faye Ballou Thompson was born on February 17th, 1938 in Los Angeles, California to Larry W. and Bernice (Milan) Ballou. She passed peacefully in Elk City, OK on August 9th, 2024 at the age of 86 years, 5 months, and 23 days.
Janice lived in California, Washington, and Western Oklahoma growing up. In Oklahoma she lived in the Grimes Community and graduated with the Berlin class of 1955 as class salutatorian. On February 21, 1961 Janice married Jack W. Thompson. Janice brought her daughter Laurie and Jack brought his two sons Gaylord and Royce to this blended family. Their daughter Melanie was born and later in life they added a son David that completed the family. They made their home in the Grimes community.
Janice was a hard working woman and she loved working beside Jack on the farm. She also worked at Security State bank for 33 years retired as the Vice President. Janice was an EMS board member for over 30 years. Janice's hobbies included farming, cattle, and cooking. She was known for her hardworking ethics and could accomplish most everything she tried.
She is preceded in death by her husband Jack Thompson, parents Larry and Bernice Ballou, grandson David Coffin, brother Kirk Ballou, and daughter-in-law Mary Thompson.
Janice is survived by her five children Laurie Cannon and husband Jerry of Elk City, OK, Melanie Coffin and husband Gary of Cheyenne, OK, Gaylord Thompson of Elk City, Royce Thompson and wife Sherri of Shawnee, OK, and David Lingle and wife Margo of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandchildren Chris Cannon, Matt Cannon, Jason Coffin, Kim Coffin, Ryan Thompson, Kandi Jones, Taylor Thompson, Bailey Thompson; 12 great grandchildren; sister Debra Lewis and husband Kit of Duke, OK; sister-in-law Marsha Ballou; many nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
