Jackie "Shawn" Dunlap was born on February 27, 1968 to Jackie Wayne and Mae (Sizemore) Dunlap in Borger, TX. He passed on September 19th, 2026 in Elk City, OK at the age of 58 years, 6 months, and 23 days.Shawn grew up in Claude, TX where he graduated high school in 1986. On January 16, 1988 he married the love of his life and best friend, Christina Smith in Shamrock, TX. They had two children, Skyla and Cody, while living in Amarillo, TX where he worked as a freight hauler. In 1998 they moved to Elk City, OK where he continued to drive a truck for several years until continuing his education at SWOSU to obtain his Associates Degree in Nursing all while working derricks at nights to provide for his family. After four years working as a nurse, the call of the oilfield brought him back, where he worked as a contract flow hand for several companies. The news of his first grandchild had him yearning for more time at home, leading to his return to his love of truck driving. Shawn felt most peaceful in nature, whether it be hunting, hiking, or visiting national parks with his family. He was known for his spontaneous personality and unpredictable humor, often writing parody songs and outlandish jokes for his wife and kids. His favorite thing to do was to make his family laugh. He found interest in anything that his loved ones loved, often spending hours of research on topics so that he could be informed on their interests. Shawn always put the care of his family first, he provided no matter how hard he had to work. There was nothing that he wasn't willing to learn in order to help his family with their projects. "If he couldn't be there to help us with something, he would make sure he taught us so we could do it ourselves" He always said his kids were his greatest accomplishment. The birth of his grandson and the news of another inspired him to become even more amazing than he was already. He is preceded in death by his parents Jack and Mae. Shawn is survived by his wife of 38 years, Christina Dunlap; daughter Skyla Dunlap; son Cody Dunlap and wife Shayna; grandsons Brandon and one expected; a large extended family, and Arthur, who he considered a brother.
