Obituary

Iva Claudine Richardson was born on July 14, 1938, to Claude and Iva Florene (Stewart) Powell in Kroger, OK. She passed on May 24, 2024, at her home outside of Erick, OK, surrounded by family at the age of 85 years, 10 months, and 10 days.

Iva grew up in Pampa, TX, and attended public schools there. At a young age, she acquired the nickname "Monkey" because she loved to climb trees and sing "The Animal Fair." She would later become known as Aunt Monkey. After school, Iva was a waitress where she met her love of her life Thomas Dean Richardson. They got married in Wheeler, TX, in 1955 and to this union four children Steven Ray, Pamela June, Marsha Kay, and Michael Dean. Thomas worked for Haliburton which led the family to live in multiple towns in West Texas. After retiring from Haliburton, Iva and Thomas made their home on the farm in Erick, OK, where she remained until her passing. Iva worked at Kirby West in Andrews, TX, on the assembly line before moving on to shipping.

Iva enjoyed painting, drawing, and cooking. She was known for her quilt making skills. Iva made one for everyone in her family. She crocheted and one time she used all her remaining scrap yarn to make beanies for all the kids in Sweetwater School from pre-K to 3rd grade. She was also known to many as the "Pie Lady" while she worked in various restaurants in the area. Iva loved her family and spent all the time she could with her kids, grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She was know as Granny to the grandkids and GG to the great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Thomas Richardson, parents Claude and Iva Florene Powell, two brothers Larry Joe and Richard (Dickey) Powell, and one granddaughter Phoebe Griffard.

She is survived by her children Steven Richardson and wife Teri of Odessa, TX: Pamela Griffard and husband Thomas of Odessa, TX; Marsha Richardson of Erick, OK; and Michael Richardson of Erick, OK; sister Dixie Powel of Seminole, TX; brothers Kenny Powell of Seminole, TX; Ocie Powell of Dallas, TX; grandchildren Alena Richardson, Elizabeth Richardson, Kristy Richardson, Caitlyn Henry, Erin Henry, Myles Griffard, Simonne Griffard Sellers, Charmagne Griffard, William Dean Billingsley, Michael Dean Richardson; 28 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.

In Lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Erick EMS through Erick City Hall.
