Henry Porter, Jr. was born September 12th, 1935, in Weatherford, Oklahoma, the youngest of 4 children to Henry Porter and Betty (Hatley) Porter. He passed away at Elk City Nursing Home on Wednesday, April 22nd, 2026, at the age of 90 years, 7 months and 10 days.

Jr. spent his entire life in Durham, Oklahoma. He attended Durham School and graduated with the class of 1953. After graduation, Jr. attended West Texas State College in Canyon, Texas. While in college, Jr. joined the Texas National Guard. With his father's health failing, Jr. returned home to assist with the farming operation. Jr. transferred to the Oklahoma National Guard where he continued to serve until June of 1962. It was during this time that he attended a New Year's Party in Reydon, Oklahoma where he met Lucille Carnes. They were married on September 21st, 1958 at the Durham Baptist Church. Jr. and Lucille were blessed with two daughters, Marlena Jan on August 5th, 1960 and LaDonna Ranee on January 13th, 1962. Jr. enjoyed farming and ranching and was very proud of the family Centennial Farm. Besides working the land and raising cattle, Jr. worked in the oil field and owned a feed and seed dealership, which also served as the local domino parlor. Jr. began working as a United States Postal Service rural mail carrier and held that position for 42 years, retiring in 2003. After Jr.'s retirement, he kept busy buying, selling, and trading antique treasures at Porter's Emporium. He was passionate about the history of Durham and Roger Mills County. Jr. was always willing to be of service if he could and was active in the community. He served on the Reydon School Board, the Roger Mills Historic Preservation Committee, the Durham Cemetery Board, and the Durham Community Building board. Jr. was also a Lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge, National Rifle Association, and Durham Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, J.L. Porter; 2 sisters, Mary Fielding and Pauline Lippencott.

Jr. is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lucille, of the home; 2 daughters, Jan Bailey and husband, Lynn, Cheyenne, OK and Donna Porter and husband, Sam Horton, Wichita Falls, TX; 2 granddaughters, Audrey Horton and fiancé', Matthew Pawlowski, Libertyville, IL and Madison Horton and husband, Temple Hendrickson, New Canaan, CT; nieces and nephews, Steve Lippencott, Terry Fielding, Scott Porter, and Peggy Tierney and their families as well as a host of other relatives and friends

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Fairview Cemetery (8017 N. 1750 Rd., Durham, OK 73642) or the Crawford Volunteer Fire Department.

Immediately following the graveside, a reception and fellowship will be held at the Durham Baptist Church.
