Helen Jeanette Snowder was born December 24th, 1927 in Canute, Oklahoma to Viola (Zahasky) and Anthony Kilhoffer. She passed away Tuesday, November 4th, 2025 in Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 97 years, 10 months and 11 days.
Helen grew up on the family farm south of Canute, Oklahoma and graduated from Holy Family Catholic School. After graduation she was married to Billy Ray Snowder at Holy Family Catholic Church on September 17, 1946. Together they made their home in Canute, Oklahoma where they raised their family. Helen found employment at Clinton Sherman Air Force Base where she was the head waitress at the Officers Club. She continued at the air force base until the 1960's when she began working at the Casa Grand Hotel as the manager. Helen later began working at Canute Schools as a cook where she could enjoy and spoil her grandchildren. She continued this until the age of 70 when she formally retired and began taking care of her mother, Viola, full time. Helen was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and was involved with the Women's Guild and also the senior citizens. She enjoyed music, singing, dancing, painting, fishing, gardening, traveling and spending time with her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; 1 grandson, Bryan Ray Snowder; great grandson, Kashton Martinez; and 2 brothers, Bobby and Mike Kilhoffer.
Helen is survived by her 5 children, Ricky Snowder and wife, Carolyn, Canute, OK, Ronny Snowder and wife, Gail, Canute, OK, Tony Snowder and wife, Jeanne, Elk City, OK, Glenna Edler and husband, Tommy, Canute, OK, and Danny Snowder and wife, Kathy, Canute, OK; 18 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren, 22 great great grandchildren; 1 sister, Sharon Joyce and husband, Victor; 3 sisters-in-law, Eula Mae Kilhoffer, Loretta Kilhoffer, and Betty Ware and a host of other relatives and friends.
