Ginger Pope was born Ginger Lynette Kendall in Cheyenne, Oklahoma on October 27th, 1955, the 1st of twin girls by 5 minutes. Ginger was the 4th of 7 children born to Betty & Carl Kendall.
Ginger lived in Roll, Oklahoma behind Kendall's Grocery Store. She worked part-time in the store, but what she really loved was working outside in the garden and going barefoot both inside and outside.
Ginger attended grade school at Crawford, Oklahoma. The highlight of her school days was being crown bearer for the Basketball Homecoming Court. She attended high school at Cheyenne, Oklahoma where she graduated in 1973. She later attended Sayre Junior College and graduated with a General Business Degree in 1975. She married Rodney Pope on February 21st, 1975. They later had a son Gary Andrew (Andy) Pope in 1977.
In Sayre, Ginger worked for Cornells Abstract Company for a few years and then moved on to work at the Beckham County Courthouse for 30 years. Ginger was County Clerk the last 6 years of her career before she retired in December of 2010.
In her free time, Ginger enjoyed being with her granddaughters, quilting, and baking. She was also a Sunday school teacher and GA leader at First Baptist Church of Sayre where she was a long-time member.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl Kendall and Betty Kendall Hanawalt; sister, Carla Kendall Compton and Judy Kendall Smith; brother, Neal "Butch" Kendall and her step-father, W.D. Hanawalt.
Ginger is survived by her husband, Rodney, Shawnee, OK; son, Andy Pope and wife, Julia, Shawnee, OK; 2 granddaughters, Aubrey and Avery Pope, Shawnee, Oklahoma; her twin sister, Jalene Kendall Parkhurst and husband, Austin, Mannford, OK; sister, Kimberly Kendall Rogers, Choctaw, OK; brother, Roger Kendall and wife, Jude, Australia; brother-in-law, Stan Compton, Port Angeles, WA and a host of other relatives and friends.
