Gary Lynn Zimms was born January 1st, 1950 in Elk City, Oklahoma to Delma Ruth (Noah) and Elvin Louis Zimms. He passed away in Oklahoma City on Tuesday, December 5th, 2023 at the age of 73 years, 11 months and 4 days.

Gary grew up in Moorewood, Oklahoma and attended school in Leedey, Oklahoma graduating in 1968. After graduation he attended mechanic school in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and shortly after began working at Red Johnson Ford in Hammon, Oklahoma. He met Patricia Ann (Music) and they were later married on February 4th, 1972. Together they made their home in Hammon and after leaving Red Johnson Ford owned and operated at mechanic shop and car wash. Gary found employment during the construction of the gas plant in Butler, Oklahoma. In 1974 they moved to Elk City where he worked at Bob Maine Ford where Gary worked his way up to service manager. In the early 80's Gary was self-employed as a electrician and carpenter independent contractor. In 1994 he began his career in the oil field where he worked for Rother Brothers, Case, Cudd, and then Bronco where he was a welder and mechanic. Gary continued until January 2023 when he formally retired and began full time farming and ranching being the "King of the Mountain". Gary also enjoyed rock climbing, riding Rzr's, fishing, hunting, and chasing his grandchildren in any sporting event. Gary was a popcorn, twizzlers and Dr. Pepper lover.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Gary is survived by his wife, Patti, of the home; 3 children, Brad Zimms and wife, Robin, Tuttle, OK, Chad Zimms and wife, Lisa, Elk City, OK, and Nicole Zimms, El Reno, OK; 7 grandchildren, Shea Zimms, Kolton Zimms and wife, Jacobi, Alexi Zimms, Rylee Zimms, Hannah Zimms, Jacob Zimms, Hayden Zimms, and Kashton Zimms; 4 great grandchildren, Gracie, Jaxton, Finley, and Cooper; 2 sisters, Carla Thomas and Janice Inhoff and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
