Obituary

Theta Faye Mong Archer was born December 30th, 1932 two miles northwest of Sweetwater, Oklahoma to Ethel Mae and William Novel Youngblood. She passed away at her home in Elk City, Oklahoma on Saturday, February 8th, 2025 at the age of 92 years, 1 month and 9 days.

Theta, known to all at "Faye", moved with her parents to the Sunny Point community where she began school. She graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1950. Faye began working for McEntire Motors of Sweetwater for the next 24 years and later for First National Bank of Sayre, Oklahoma. She was married to Joe Mong at Gracemont, Oklahoma on October 13, 1979. Together they made their home in the Sweetwater community. In 1986, she went to work for Whinery Funeral Service and continued with the Whinery family until her retirement in 2005. Joe and Faye remained in the Sweetwater community all of their married life except for one year when they lived in Eufaula, Oklahoma. They continued to remain on the farm where she enjoyed gardening, yard work, flowers, crocheting, and watching Joe care for their catfish farm.

Faye was a member of the Sweetwater Assembly Of God Church where she served as Church Secretary and Sunday School teacher. In 2008, after the passing of her husband, she remained on the farm until moving to Elk City in 2014. Faye, after some convincing, accepted the invitation for a date from E.L. Archer and they were later married on October 14, 2016. Together they enjoyed attending the basketball games of their great grandchildren and watching the Oklahoma City Thunder. When E.L. entered the nursing home, Faye moved to Elk City where she remained.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe; 3 sons, Mike Mong, Johnny Mong, and Wes Mong; 1 sister, Voleta McEntire; nephew, Richard McEntire

Faye is survived by 1 daughter-in-law, Laura Nell Hays, Elk City, OK; 4 grandchildren, Shay Mong and wife, Jamie, OK, Jason Mong and wife, Heather, Elk City, OK, Sharisa Mong, Medina, TN Buddy Jo Thomas, Elk City, OK; 1 great grandchildren, Taylor, Tanner, Makenzie, Mason, Marlie, Jacey, Kaley, McKenna, Lexton, Illyanna, McKoy, Harlee, Saydee, Jaxon,Timothy, Sierra, and Andrew, Mattie Jo; nephew, Eugene McEntire and wife, Pam; great niece, Joquetta Thompson and husband, Robert and family; great nephew, Randy McEntire and wife, Crystal, and family. Faye also gained a "bonus family" when she married E.L. Archer that included: Larinda Skaggs and her family, Emory Archer and his family, Dwight Archer and his family, Bruce Archer and his family, Keith Archer and his family, Rod Archer and his family and a host of other relatives and friends.
