Obituary

Ellison Arvie "Wayne" Holland was born November 21, 1943 to Marion Arvie & Delphia Nadine (Ellison) Holland in Erick, OK. He passed away August 17, 2025 at the age of 81 years, 8 months, & 27 days.

Wayne was raised in Erick, Germany, & Lawton, OK where he graduated from Lawton High School in 1962, going on to Cameron College. He joined the US Army Reserve in 1964. The following year he was called into active duty & was stationed at Fort Bliss, TX. Wayne remained in the reserves until 1970. He started work for Arkla Gas Company becoming a service technician & was transferred around from Lawton, Temple, McAlester, then finally to Little Rock, AR. After moving back to OKlahoma, winding up in OKC, he took a job with Mustang Fuel Corporation in Edmond. In later years, Wayne went to work for Park Harvey in OKC doing maintenance. When retirement age was approaching, knowing he wasn't ready, he decided it was a great time for a new adventure, leading him to truck driving school. Upon completion, he obtained a job with Stevens Trucking in Oklahoma City. He started driving semis then changed to a "hot-shot" driver. He thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to see multiple states. Wayne did leave this job in 2009 to move back to Lawton to assist in the care of his mother.

One of Wayne's first hobbies was photography that he learned about in high school. He used this hobby for extra income when he began photographing weddings in the Lawton area. He even developed the photographs in his own dark room. Other hobbies were coin & stamp collecting, hunting, fishing, & target practice.

Wayne was very patriotic, kind-hearted & was known to help anyone he could. He was considered a good big brother, being the eldest of five children, he helped take care of his younger siblings. When his kids were little, he was involved with Cub Scouts & helped coach softball. He used to tell stories to the kids & was thought of as a fun uncle. He loved his family & enjoyed watching their diverse activities whenever he could. He will be missed by his family & friends.

Wayne is survived by his children, Kevin Holland(Charla) Weatherford, OK; Lisa Harmon(Steve) Marlow, Amanda Giles(TJ) OKC, Rachel Faulkner(Caleb) Lawton, grandchildren; Pamela Burton(Jarrod), Lisa Grant(Dusty), Trevin  Harmon(Jessica), Dylan Harmon(Darla), Jordan Lambert(Jake), Kaylee Sanders(AJ), Addison Miller(Jace) Aubree Harmon, Nathan Walley, Ryker Faulkner, Lydia Giles, Axel Faulkner, & Lenora Giles; great grandchildren Grayson, Holland, Mollie, Oaklyn, Graham, Alivia, Lainey, Lindsay, Blake, Wyatt, Judd, & Jackson; two brothers David Holland(Cheryl) Wichita Falls, Keith Holland Lawton; two sisters Lyn Holland, OKC, Darla Robertson(Russ) Cypress, TX.; a host of nieces, nephews, & friends.
