Kenneth Dwayne Rainey was born May 9th, 1950 in Sayre, Oklahoma to Erma Evelyn (Miller) and Floyd Olen Rainey. He passed away in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on Monday, April 3rd, 2023 at the age of 72 years, 10 months and 25 days.
Dwayne spent his childhood in Reydon, Oklahoma where he began school. He moved to Elk City with his family where he attended high school being a member of the 1967 basketball team that won state. Dwayne graduated high school in 1968 and began his career in the oil and natural gas on a seismographing crew. He was married to Sharon LaRae (Griffin) on November 22nd, 1972 at his parents house in Elk City. In 1974 they moved to Odessa, Texas where Dwayne worked for a Ref Chem Gas Plant. They continued to live in that area until 1977 when they moved back to Elk City to make their home except for a short stint in following the oil and natural gas industry. In 2007 Dwayne formally retired from his careers in the oil and gas industry and over the road trucking. In what spare time he had he enjoyed golfing, fishing, and most especially spending time with his family and watching his grandchildrens sporting events.
He is preceded in death his parents; 2 brothers, Vernal Sidney and Ron Rainey.
Dwayne is survived by his wife, Sharon, of the home; 2 daughters, Shannon Congdon and husband, Trever, Elk City, OK and Shea Stewart and husband, James, Granite, OK; 5 grandchildren, Spencer Congdon and wife, Kammie, Ethan Hebel and wife, Peyton, Sydney Congdon and husband, Matthew, Kaitlyn Hebel, and Deagan Congdon; 2 brothers, Marvin Rainey and wife, Judy and Bobby Rainey and wife, Vivian and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Chris Whinery and the staff of Affordable Cremation Service-West. Condolences can be made online at www.classicfunerals.com
