Obituary

Len Doyle Walker was born February 19th, 1943 in Elk City, Oklahoma to Zeta Mae (Anderton) and William Mason Walker. He passed away Thursday, September 15th, 2022 at his home north of Carter, Oklahoma at the age of 79 years, 6 months and 27 days.

Doyle grew up in Carter, Oklahoma where he attended school. The last semester of his senior year he attended Merritt High School where he graduated in 1961. After gradation he remained in Carter where he worked on the family farm with his father. Doyle was reunited with a classmate, Patsy Marie (Graham) and they were later married on April 10th, 1964 at her parents home in Retrop, Oklahoma. After their marriage they lived in Perryton, Texas following the oil field and later Chickasha Oklahoma where they farmed before moving back to Carter to make their home. In 1971, out of necessity, they moved to Oklahoma City where Doyle went to work for Fleming Grocery Store. After a couple years at Fleming he found a better job with TransCon driving a truck cross country with Patsy's cousin, Jack Redwine. Doyle spent the next few years working for various other company's hauling cattle cross country. In 1974 he and Patsy moved back to Carter, Oklahoma where he purchased bull wagons in 1977 and also worked for Turner Brothers Trucking. Doyle spent a lot of time on the road trucking, in the wheat fields with his family custom cutting and baling, and hauling cattle to Louisiana. When Doyle quit trucking, he began working for Bobby Drinnon and later Johnny Dixon operating heavy equipment. All throughout his life, Doyle was a farmer at heart and even though his jobs took him elsewhere his passion was on the farm. With his strong work ethic he had little time for hobbies, but in his spare time he enjoyed fishing and riding his motorcycle.
