Dorothy Fern Smith was born August 5, 1931 to William Henry and Vera Beatrice (Beauchamp) Caudle at the family farm near Leedey, OK. She passed on March 26th, 2024 in Sayre, OK at the age of 92 years, 7 months, and 21 days.

Dorothy started her education at Five Star, continued it at Breezy Meadow and, finished it at Crawford Schools. On April 7 , 1947, she married Gordon Eugene Smith in Wheeler, TX and to this union two sons were born Bobby and Terry. They moved to Borger, TX for a short time while before moving back to Roger Mills County. Dorothy helped Gordon on the farm and she also worked as a nurses aid at the Cheyenne nursing home for 34 years until her retirement.

Dorothy was a member of the Cheyenne Pentecostal Holiness Church. Dorothy liked to paint ceramics and crochet. She was known for her beautiful garden and she enjoyed sharing it with her family and friends. After her retirement at the nursing home, she still helped with the elderly with their needs. Dorothy will be greatly missed by her family friends.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Gordon Smith, parents William and Vera Caudle, one sister Opal Allen.

She is survived by her two sons Bobby Smith and wife Dovie of Cheyenne, Oklahoma and Terry Smith and wife Linda of Roll, OK; two grandchildren Cory Smith of Roll, OK and Dusty Smith and wife Lis of Cheyenne, OK; one great grandson Ashton Wetsel of Mangum, OK.; two sisters Florence Burgess of Amarillo, TX and Kay Caudle of Roll, OK; many nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
