"Donna" Legrand
Apr 17, 1933 — Mar 19, 2023
Donnaleitta "Donna" LeGrand was born April 17th, 1933, in Elk City, Oklahoma to Maggie Jane (Risley) and John Alva Porter. She passed away Sunday, March 19th, 2023, in Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 89 years, 11 months, and 2 days.
As a young girl, Donnaleitta briefly lived in the Cheyenne community with her family. Before her school years, they moved to Reydon where she started school at Meridian and later Reydon where she graduated in 1951. Donnaleitta was later married to Alec LeGrand on February 20th, 1952. After their marriage, they made their home south of Skipout Lake on the family farm that Alec purchased from his father. Donnaleitta had intended to attend Draughons Business School in Oklahoma City, but Alec felt strongly about not wanting his wife to work outside the home. In 1957 they put in a grade A dairy that the family operated until 1991. Throughout Donnaleitta's life she was a member of the Church of Christ and made sure her kids attended with her. She was a strong supporter of the Reydon Home Demonstration Club, a 4-H Leader, a great cook, and was a class parent for all 3 of her children. Donnaleitta enjoyed being a Mary Kay consultant for approximately 20 years along with canning, gardening, and tending her flowers.
She is preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Laffie Wood; her husband, Alec, of 61 years; 3 brothers and their spouses; and one granddaughter, Amber Anderson.
Donnaleitta is survived by her 3 children, Alexia White and husband, Frank of Fay, OK, Roy LeGrand and wife, Deanna of Reydon, OK, and Rex LeGrand and wife, Linda of Greenwood, AR; 5 grandchildren, Mika Shelton and husband, Adam, Trevin White and wife, Kari, Helen Barker and husband, Bryant, Noble LeGrand, and Brett Anderson; 8 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Homestead and Comforting Hands Hospice for the love and care shown to Donnaleitta.
