Donna
Kitchens
Dec 4, 1945 — Jul 20, 2026
Donna Marie Moss Kitchens was born December 4, 1945, in Odessa, Texas, to Minnie Louise (Martindale) Moss and U.L. Moss. She passed away Sunday, July 19, 2026, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 80 years, 7 months and 16 days.
Donna was raised in the Sayre, Oklahoma community. She attended Sayre Public Schools, graduating in 1964. She was a barrel racer during her youth and loved spending time with her father, who trained race horses. She was a lifelong lover of horses because of those early experiences.
After graduating from high school, Donna furthered her education at the University of Oklahoma, receiving her bachelor's degree in education. Donna started her family with the birth of her sons: Don in 1967, Phil in 1969 and Ken in 1970. She spent decades teaching at schools in Oklahoma and Texas, influencing countless young lives. She was a special education teacher. She also taught at the Oklahoma State Reformatory in Granite, Oklahoma. Donna went on to obtain her master's degree in educational administration from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, and she worked toward a PhD at the University of Oklahoma. She settled in Sayre and met the love of her life, Tucker Kitchens. They were married in Wheeler, Texas, on March 10, 1989. Together, they made their home in Sayre, where they were active in the community. In the early 2000s, they moved to Guthrie, Oklahoma, to be closer to family. Donna enjoyed being an officer and working with the Sayre Alumni Association along with Tucker. Tucker was vice president from 1988 to 1990 and was president of the association in 1991. Donna was vice president from 1988 to 1993 and was president during her honor year of 1994. As officers, Donna and Tucker hosted the odd-year-versus-even-year basketball game, a dance and a luncheon. Donna also enjoyed serving as the worthy matron of the Eastern Star chapter in Elk City for a time. She loved spending time with her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents and one son, Don Green.
Donna is survived by her husband, Tucker, of Oklahoma City; son Phil and wife, Julie, of Blackwell; son Ken and wife, Amanda, of Durango, Colorado; aunt Carolyn Sudduth Vandiver and husband, Keith, of Morgan, Texas; and grandchildren Taylor Smith, Ty Green, Lindsey Green, Katie Green and Jordan Green.
