Dennis Lee Wootton (aka Papa Smurf) was born on September 26th, 1955 in Mangum, OK to Alton and Geneva (Boone) Wootton. He passed on June 25, 2024 in Oklahoma City at the age of 68 years, 8 months, and 30 days.

Dennis grew up in Willow, OK. He attended Granite Schools until the 4th grade and then attended Carter Schools through High School. Dennis was a man of many trades throughout his life. He raised greyhounds, and was a welder in the oil field industry. He worked for Greer County and at the North Fork Prison. Dennis was currently working for the City of Erick.

He married Jody Wootton in 1974 at Granite, OK and to this union four children were born Jason, Justin, Josh, and Melanie. In 2000, Dennis met Donna Wootton and they got married in 2007 at Erick, OK, and he welcomed two more children into his family Heath and Sherry.

Dennis was an animal lover and loved raising dogs. He always stayed busy and could be found tinkering around the farm. He liked the outdoors and fishing.

He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents George and Jessie Wootton, brothers Jim Wootton and Hester Banister.

Dennis is survived by his wife of the home Donna Wootton, four sons Jason Wootton and wife Corky of Willow, OK, Justin Wootton and wife Dena of Willow, OK, Josh Wootton and wife Roberta of Willow, OK, and Heath McKelvey of Elk City, OK; two daughters Melanie Reeves and husband Travis of Carter, OK and Sherry Sanderson of Yukon, OK; 20 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; brothers Don Wootton of Elgin, OK, Leo Wootton and wife Mary of St. Louis, Dick Banister of San Antonio; many nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
