Dennis Earl McCoy was born April 12, 1954 in El Paso, Texas to Jewell Dean (Cline) and C.E. McCoy. He passed away on his farm south of Reydon, Oklahoma on October 15th, 2022 at the age of 68 years, 6 months and 3 days.
Dennis grew up in El Paso, Texas where his dad was stationed in the army. He moved with his family to Dalhart, Texas where he began school at Kelly Hill School. They continued to live in Dalhart until 1963 when the family moved to Reydon to be near both sets of grandparents. Dennis started 5th grade at Reydon and continued the rest of his education graduating in 1972 from Reydon High School. During his school years Dennis was active in basketball, 4-H where he loved showing his steers. He was also active in rodeo and specifically roping was his sport. After graduation he attended Oklahoma State University - Okmulgee where he received training in diesel mechanics and auto repair. Dennis found employment by way of moving to Houston, Texas where he spent 3 years and later to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where he worked for Becking Machinery and Caterpillar. During his life he was also employed by John Deere and Williams. Dennis was married to Michelle (Weaver) on December 11, 1987 in Del City, Oklahoma. After their marriage they lived in Duncan, Marlow, and Altus before returning to Reydon in 1998 to make their home on the McCoy family homestead and raised their family. Dennis always had a strong work ethic and coworkers always had the utmost respect for Dennis, his work ethic, and the jobs he preformed.
He preceded in death by his father, C.E. McCoy, Jr.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Michelle, of the home; 1 daughter, Kattie Welch and husband, Davey, Elk City, OK; one grandson, Charles Eugene Welch, Elk City, OK; his mother, Jewell Dean McCoy, Sayre, OK; one sister, Charla Cooprider and husband, Ronnie, Sweetwater, OK; neice Darla Rogers and husband Brant; nephew, Tuff Powers and wife Junita; niece, Monica Bentley; 5 great nephews and 1 great niece. He is also survived by many close and dear friends that he considered his brothers as well as other relatives and friends.
