Denney Ray Dodson, Sr. was born October 28th, 1951 in Phoenix, Arizona to Sadie Bell (Hughes) and Bennie Dodson. He passed away, at his home south of Sayre, on Saturday, July 15th, 2023 at the age of 71 years, 8 months and 17 days.

Denney grew up in the Delhi community and attended high school in Sayre where he graduated in 1970. After graduation he worked various jobs until the mid 80's when he started his career in the oil field. He began as roughneck and worked his way up to a drilling consultant. With the downturn of the oil field he found himself back as a roughneck and worked his way back until he semi-retired in the summer of 2022. It was during this time that he was married to Oriana (Dariva) in Peru on September 13th, 2003. After their marriage, they made their home south of Sayre while Denney worked in the oil field. In his spare time he enjoyed being on the lake fishing, hunting, taking his wife dancing, going to the casino, cooking, and spending time with his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother, David Lee Dodson;

He is survived by his wife, Oriana and son, David of the home; 2 other children, Michelle Burns, Sayre, OK, and Denney Dodson, Jr., Sayre, OK; 5 grandchildren, Tyler, Kaylee, Hailey, Hunter, and Baylor; 1 sister, Marie Dungan; 1 brother, Ronnie Dodson and a host of other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, July 19th, 2023 at 10:30 AM at the Prairie view Baptist Church officiated by Charlie Henthorn.
