Obituary

Deanna Marie Findley was born October 31st, 1958 in Elk City, Oklahoma to Louisa Nora (Harris) and Durward Otto Sherwood. She passed away Wednesday, May 25th, 2022 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 63 years, 6 months and 25 days. Deanna grew up on the family farm near Hammon, Oklahoma. She attended Hammon Schools where she was a member of the basketball team eventually obtaining a college scholarship. Deanna graduated in 1976 and continued her basketball career at Oklahoma Panhandle State University. After a year of college she was married to David Hugh Findley in Moorewood, Oklahoma on August 13th, 1977. They made their home in Ulysses, Kansas, Erick, Oklahoma and later Perryton, Texas where they began and raised their family. She returned to Southwestern Oklahoma State University where she obtained her bachelors degree in education. Deanna started her first teaching job at Geronimo, Oklahoma and had their third child that same year. Her career took her from Geronimo, Oklahoma, Samnorwood, Texas, and Spearman, Texas. While at Spearman, Texas she returned to school, at Texas Tech University, to obtain her master's degree in vision and mobility education. Deanna completed her 26 year career in teaching blind and deaf children before her and David moved back to Hammon, Oklahoma. She enjoyed cooking, gardening (sometimes successful), teaching Sunday school, camping, hiking, going to the lake, being an amazing mother and spending time with her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her father and her grandson, Johnathan Stewart Findley. Deanna is survived by her husband, David, of the home; her 3 children, Lisa Brown and husband, Toby, Perryton, TX, Daniel Findley and wife, Lacy Follett, TX and Darrel Findley and wife, Kimberly, Perryton, TX; 11 grandchildren, Cayden, Braylee, Addison, Davin Brown, Gracie, Noah, Paul, Joyanna, Jewel and Faith Findley, Evan Findley; mother, Louisa Sherwood, Elk City, OK; 1 brother, Durward Sherwood, Jr., Hammon, OK; 1 sister, Kathy Hathaway and husband, Dale, Butler, OK and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 4:00 P.M. at the Hammon Church of Christ officiated by Dolan Ivey.
