David "Chico" Merrifield was born December 9th, 1964 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Maria (Molinar) and Quincy "Buddy" Merrifield. He passed away Sunday, August 28th, 2022 at Cheyenne, Oklahoma at the age of 57 years, 8 months and 19 days.
As a child he moved with his parents to Aguascalientes, Mexico until they returned to the Sayre area in the mid 70's. Chico attended schools at Sayre and was a part of the graduating class of 1984. During his time in high school he participated in FFA and also band. After graduation, he moved to Crawford where he began working as a ranch hand with horses and cattle. Chico worked for different livestock contractor companies going to rodeos across the United States. He could also be seen in a truck as a part of his job transporting the livestock from place to place. Although he never formally retired, in 2021 his health forced his retirement. Chico enjoyed roping, golfing, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents; mother; 1 son, Braylon Morgan and 1 grandson, Sage Cummings.
Chico is survived by his 3 children, Caitlyn Cummings and husband, Nick, Ozark, AL, Roper Merrifield, Elk City, OK, and Ryder Merrifield, Sayre, OK; 1 grandson, Skyler Parr, Ozark, AL; his father, Buddy Merrifield, Sayre, OK; Marisa Merrifield, Sayre, OK and Noel Merrifield and wife, Cacy, Yukon, OK; 1 brother, Chris Merrifield and wife, Tonya, McAlester, OK; nieces and nephews, Jimmy Knight, Noah Curry, Aidan Curry, Megan Merrifield, Morgan James, Allison Merrifield, Hailey Merrifield, Saylor Merrifield, and Beckett Merrifield and a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held Friday, September 2nd, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Trinity Fellowship officiated by Andy Taylor. Arrangements are under the direction of Chris Whinery and the staff of Affordable Cremation Service-West. Condolences can be made online at www.classicfunerals.com
