Darwin Ross Shepherd was born on April 16, 1945 to Winford H and Dorothy (Cabiness) Shepherd in Clinton, OK. He passed away on August 30, 2025 in Elk City, OK at the age of 80 years, 4 months, and 14 days.

He grew up in Clinton, OK as the oldest of his three siblings. He attended and graduated from Clinton Public Schools. After graduation, he attended OSU and South Western Oklahoma State University (SWOSU). He enlisted in the Air National Guard and served 20 years. He retired as Chief Master Sergeant from the Air National Guard. On October 23, 1965, Darwin married Carolyn (Brown) Shepherd in Wellington, TX and to this union two sons were born Jim and Joe. Darwin and Carolyn made their home in Elk City, OK. In 1966, Darwin started his career at Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America and retired in 2017 as a corrosion technician. In his spare time, Darwin liked to spend his time outdoors gardening and fishing.

Darwin was preceded in death by his parents Winford and Dorothy Shepherd and brother Darell Shepherd.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn of the home; two sons Jim Shepherd and wife Dora and Joe Shepherd and wife Amy both of Elk City, OK; 5 grandchildren Dakota Shepherd, Allison Schenck and husband Bailey, Morgan Rodriguez and husband Adrian, Layne Morgan and wife Jordan, and Matt Morgan; 4 great grandchildren; two sisters Rhonda Cischke and husband Tony of Dallas, TX and Ramona Shepherd of Clinton, OK; sister-in-law Debbie Shepherd of Weatherford, OK; many nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
