Obituary

Darrel Glyn Gamble was born on February 14, 1954, to Melvin Norman and Dorothy Louise (Kinchen) Gamble in Sayre, Oklahoma. He passed away on June 17, 2026, in Erick, Oklahoma, at the age of 72 years, 4 months, and 3 days.

Darrel grew up in Erick and attended Erick schools, graduating with the Class of 1972. Following graduation, he began farming with his Dad. On June 29, 1973, he married Sherri Raney at First Baptist Church in Erick, Oklahoma. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Lindsay and Jamie.

Darrel began his farming career with a 100-acre wheat crop. Through hard work, dedication, and a willingness to embrace new ideas, he expanded his operation over the next 54 years to 3,500 acres, raising wheat, cotton, and cattle. A progressive farmer, Darrel was among the first in the area to adopt no-till farming practices. For Darrel, farming was more than a profession—it was his calling. He especially cherished the years spent working alongside his children and grandchildren, passing on the values and traditions he held dear.

While farming was his life's work, Darrel also cherished time spent away with those he loved most. He and Sherri made countless memories traveling to Colorado, enjoying the cool mountain air as a welcome break from the Oklahoma heat. He especially treasured both family vacations and quiet trips with his wife, moments that reflected the deep bond they shared.

Committed to serving his community, Darrel held positions on numerous boards and organizations, including the Co-op Board, the Farm Service Agency Committee, the Farm Bureau Board, and was a familiar presence at the unofficial C&K round table, where conversations, ideas, and friendships were shared. The greatest decision and blessing in Darrel's life came on February 5, 2023, when he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Erick.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Dorothy Gamble, and his brother, David Gamble.

Left to honor and cherish Darrel's memory are his beloved wife of almost 53 years, Sherri Gamble of the home; daughter, Lindsay Coker and husband Brian of Erick, OK, and their children, Emma and Ethan; son, Jamie Gamble and wife Rachel of Erick, OK, and their son, Mason; sister-in-law, Anita Gamble of Liberty City, Texas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends.
