Obituary

Dala Jean was born to Victor Dale and Ruby Jean (Waters) Beck on October 9, 1942 in Elk City, Oklahoma. And lived in Canute where she attended Canute schools for her entire childhood, while working on the farm alongside her parents.

She met the love of her life, Albert DeGarmo in 1954, and after graduating in 1960, they were married on July 1, 1961 in Lubbock, Texas. They lived in San Angelo, Texas, where Albert attended a tech school after enlisting in the US Air Force, to this union, two daughters were born - Jacalyn Leigh in 1961 and Jeanne Layne in 1964.Dala spent many years traveling the world as an Air Force wife, which she was extremely proud to be, she lived in Crete, Greece, two tours in Masawa, Japan and in many states including Texas, Florida, Maryland, and Utah. Dala stated her favorite trip was returning home to Elk City following Albert's retirement in 1980. While in Utah, Dala began working at H&R Block, where she developed her love of preparing taxes. After she moved home to Elk City, she started working for the local H&R Block. Later purchasing the office, and continuing her 35 years of tax preparation, Even after the selling the office Dala continued working for the new owner and later for PK & Company.

Dala had a voracious appetite for reading and spending many hours doing so, she also loved working on jigsaw puzzles.

Dala was known for her deep love of her family and she was the rock and the glue of her family, including her five sisters after losing their parents, Dale and Ruby Jean. She is preceded in death by her parents Dale and Ruby Jean; in laws Melvin and Ada DeGarmo; 3 brother in laws, Allen and Gary DeGarmo and Jim LaFarlette; sister in law Gloria DeGarmo and one son in law Jerry Oldham. She is survived by her husband Albert of the home; two daughters Jacalyn Oldham Stone and husband Terry of Elk CIty, OK and Jeanne Snowder and her husband Tony of Elk City, OK; five sisters Patsy La Farlette of Elk City, OK, Raelene and husband Arnold Knight of Elk City, OK, Misti and husband Matt Creach of Hammon, OK, Kristi and husband Kevin Visor of Augusta, KS, and Gail and husband Kary Schneberger of Canute, OK. Seven grandchildren, seventeen great children,one great great grandchild and another one on the way. Sister in law Linda Cook. Along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. And a very special Aunt Doodle Finley Bonny.
