Curtis Wendell White was born November 4th, 1942 in Shattuck, Oklahoma to Viola Gladys (Leitner) and William Pratt White. He passed away Wednesday, July 2nd, 2025 in Clinton, Oklahoma at the age of 82 years, 7 months and 28 days.
Curtis, known by most as "Curt", grew up in Crawford, Oklahoma where he attended grade school in Durham later transferring to Crawford where he graduated in 1961. After graduation he worked for REA (Northfork) and began his career in the oil field. In January of 1966 he was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam era. Curt obtained his expert marksman and security clearance but remained states side until his discharge in January of 1968. He returned to Roger Mills county where he continued his career in the oil field holding jobs ranging from roustabout to tool pusher.
On August 25th, 1973, he was married to Linda Sue (Watts) in Wheeler, Texas. Together they blended and raised their family in the Texas panhandle and western Oklahoma with the majority in Crawford and Cheyenne, Oklahoma. The family could often be found caring for their cattle and horses and also attending play days in western Oklahoma and some in the Texas panhandle. He worked in the oil field until 1995 when Curt and Linda moved to Cheyenne and found various jobs that kept him busy including working for Chad Smith and Brad Bottom. Curt enjoyed watching and participating in rodeos and play days, coaching little league baseball, watching college sports, especially college softball, and spending time with his family and friends. He was also a member of the Reydon Community Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Misty Lynn; son-in-law, Rusty Williams; 2 grandsons, Holden White and Hugh Jones; and 2 brothers, Gene and Virgil White; and special friend, Amos Byrd.
Curtis is survived by his wife, Linda, of the home; 4 children, Tessa Williams and significant other, Mark Morgan, Elk City, OK, Donna Stout, Mangum, OK, Stephanie Ewald and husband, Rodean, Fairview, OK and Benjamin Avidas and wife, Janna, Oklahoma City, OK; 9 grandchildren, Genna Craig and husband, Ty, Brittany Black and husband, Chris, Brennan Morse and wife, Jennifer, Maci Avidas, Scout White, Connor White, Tyner Banks, Mikala Ewald, and Madison Kind and husband, Bryan; 5 great grandchildren and one on the way and a host of other relatives and friends.
