Colter Jake Vaught was born October 2nd, 1981 at Elk City, Oklahoma to Carla Ray (Britton) and Lynn Vaught, Jr. He passed away January 11th, 2024 west of Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 42 years, 3 months and 9 days.

Colter grew up in the Sayre and Carter communities and attended schools at Sayre graduating in 2001. After graduation he began his career in the oil field where he worked for Troy Jones, CUDD Pressure Control, Hughes, TTS, Great White Pressure Control, and ended his career at Patterson Rental Tools. His entire working life he was in the service oil field industry where he worked as a new hire to a supervisor, and even spent some time as a independent consultant. He also helped the Silk and Rippetoe family's in their farming operation. Colter was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to spend time with his family, friends, and 2AM friends. Colter's kids and his dog, Hunter, were his life and above all lived, worked and breathed for them. He enjoyed life to the fullest and loved dishing out a hard time just as much as he loved receiving the hard time.

He is preceded in death by his father, Lynn Vaught; brother, Cody Vaught; step-brother, Mitchell Brown; grandparents, Nolan and Phyllis Britton, Lyndell Vaught, Sr., Margaret Music, Glen Hunt; 2 cousins, Morgan Skipworth and Sheldon Britton; and 1 aunt, Rhonda Vaught.

Colter is survived by his 3 children, Cody Vaught, Carter, OK, Brady Vaught, Delhi, OK, and Blaize Vaught, Delhi, OK; the mother of Colter's children, Brianne Silk; Cody's biological mother, Misti Coats; his mother, Carla McDaniel and husband, Mike, Sayre, OK; step mother, LaDonna Vaught; Carter, OK; 1 brother, Rodney Vaught and wife, Melissa, Willow, OK; 1 brother-in-law, Bandy Silk and wife, Amy, Delhi, OK; 2 step-sisters, Heather Rutherford and husband, David, Elk City, OK and Mindi and Liana Castro McDaniel, Norman, OK; 3 uncles, Nelson Britton and wife, Brenda, Mark Britton and wife, Gina, Larry Vaught; 2 aunts, Linda Cook and husband, Edward, Debbie Adams and husband, Scott, Fargo, OK; step aunt, Kathy Hunt Wilson and husband, Ed; in-laws, Brian and Sandra Silk; his bestest friend, Hunter and a host of other relatives and friends.
