Obituary

Coell Weslene Smith was born on June 22, 1940 to Abraham Wesley Vandine and Ethel Auta (Stewart) Scrivner in Sayre, OK. She passed on July 14, 2026 in Sayre, OK at the age of 86 years and 22 days.

Coell lived with her grandma Elgia Stewart and grew up in the Dempsey area. She attended school in Reydon, OK and graduated with the class of 1958. After graduation, she moved to Sayre and attended Sayre Junior College and started her college education. In 1960, she married Dean Smith and to this union three children Ron, Burt, and Michelle were born. She continued her education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Sayre and earned her degree in Medical/ Xray technician. She also went on to Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, OK where she also earned her bachelor's degree in Special Education. Coell worked in the Medical field as a Xray and lab technician for over 40 years in several hospitals located in western Oklahoma and Texas. At the age of 75, she finally retired and spent her remaining time with her family.

In her spare time, Coell enjoyed crocheting, traveling and going to Tim McGraw concerts. She was a lifelong member of the Sayre Church of Christ. She was an avid NBA basketball fan and loved watching Golden State and Thunder games. Her favorite though was spending time and making cherished memories with her family and church family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, son Burt Smith, grandson Johnnie Campbell II, brothers Charles Scrivner and Benton Scrivner.

Coell is survived by her children Ron Smith and wife Debbie of Thomas, OK and Michelle Campbell and husband Johnnie of Sayre, OK; grandchildren Adrian Brownen and husband Trent, Mikayla Meyer and husband Matthew, Avery Campbell and fiancee Marcie Blalock, Devin Campbell, Brenay Campbell, Alex Campbell, London Campbell, Zeke Campbell, Cadence Campbell, and Natelie Campbell; great grandchildren Edith Brownen, Nathaniel Brownen, Lucy Meyer, and Elyse Meyer; sister JoAnn Beeson and husband Charles; special cousin Judy Dusek; special friend Connie Sisk; many nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
