Clyde Richard "Dick" Lipe, age 85, of Elk City, Oklahoma, passed away on September 5, 2025 surrounded by his family. Clyde was born December 29 1939 to James Allen Lipe and Ida May Lipe in Mount Vernon, Illinois. He was raised by his grandmother, Viola "Ola". He grew up in Mount Vernon and graduated from Mount Vernon High School. On December 22, 1971, Dick married the love of his life Robbie Odom.

Dick worked hard his entire life. He worked at a mental institution, drove a truck, worked with racehorses and was a "Rough Neck" working on Drilling Rigs. Dick started working on drilling rigs with his Grand Father and Dad in Illinois. He followed the oilfield to New Mexico and then to West Texas where he worked for several drilling companies before going to work for Rowan Drilling. While at Rowan he was transferred to Corpus Christi Tx and Elk City OK. Dick worked as a Company Man for The Superior Oil Company for a short time going back to Rowan due to not having enough time off to be with his family. Dick was know and respected for his abilities to run a Drilling Rig. He worked as a tool pusher for Rowan Drilling, Continental Drilling, and Oneoak Drilling. He also worked for Parker Drilling on Rig 201 while at the time was the world largest land rig. During the slow down in the late 1980's Dick and Robbie moved to Farmersville LA. While there he worked for ConAgra. Dick returned to Elk City going to work for Catcus Drilling retiring in 2016.

Dick was a "Family Man" and he enjoyed spending time with his family whenever he could. He loved children and always took time to wave or talk to any small child he happened to see. He cared about other people and was always willing to help. He also had a love of animals, especially dogs. He enjoyed cooking for his rig crews, and his favorite food was fried catfish. He enjoyed being outside (he would stay outside forever; if it wasn't for Robbie). Dick loved making Robbie happy from helping feed the birds, watering the flowers, to putting up Christmas lights. He enjoyed traveling with Robbie. Dick was a notarize boat captain and loved to pull the kids behind his boat. No matter if you were skiing or on a tube you were going to be pulled as fast as the boat would run. Dick held several records, 9 Years without an Accident while pushing tools for Cactus and for most lights plugged in to a single outlet. He was a huge Dallas Cowboys Fan and never missed watching a game. Dick was the Master of hiding things and never threw anything away just in case it might be needed. He was cherished by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Clyde was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, several aunts and uncles, two brothers Rodney J. Lipe, Gary A. Lipe, sisters-in laws Lou Dean Dupuis, Nell Leggett; brother-in-law Wexler Leggett, and daughter in laws Barbara Lipe and Connie Lipe.

He was survived by his wife of 53 years Robbie J. (Odom) Lipe of Elk City, Oklahoma; his two daughters Jean Bell (David), JoAnn Digby (David) of Elk City, Oklahoma; 4 sons, James Digby (LeAnne) of Deridder, LA, John Digby (Carol) of Elk City, Oklahoma, Stephen Lipe of Muskogee, Oklahoma, and Russell Lipe (Tonya) of Elk City, Oklahoma, and sister in law Connie (Hicks) Lipe of Mount Vernon, Illinois and brother in law Jim Dupuis. As well as many grandchildren, Landon Digby (Holley); Amber Egan (Tim), Toni O'hara (Brad), Joshua Rice (Christie); Wade Lipe (Courtney), Skylor Lipe (Kimberly), Shawn Digby (Heather), Bryan Digby (Tanya), Christy Lipe (Russel), Kenzie Boese (Jared), Morgan Lind (David Whitt), Heidi Patton (Brandon), Thomas Frey (Emily), Karli Mendez (Anthony), Dalyn Droke. Great grandchildren Jack, Luke, and Maeve Digby; Brody and Carter Egan; Wyatt and Sawyer Digby; Aden and Peyton Lipe, Rylee Adams; Luci, Gus, Molli, Henry, and Georgi O'Hara; Cheyenne and Tucker Digby; Brantley Thornton and Blake Whitt; Brooklyn and Brock Boese; Baron and Cora Patton; Jasper and Jovi Rice, Adi and Aden Frye; and special fur friend, Buddy.
