Cleo
Pierce
Oct 2, 1931 — Apr 24, 2023
Cleo Mae Pierce was born October 2nd, 1931 in Rattan, Oklahoma to Alice Amanda (Sizemore) and Theodore Thomas Whitson. She passed away on Monday, April 24th, 2023 at Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 91 years, 6 months and 22 days.
Cleo moved with her family from Rattan, Oklahoma to Cheyenne, Oklahoma in 1945. She was married in the late 40's to Truman Arthur Green. They made their home in Cheyenne and began their family. To this union two children were born, Thomas Eugene and Janet Arlene. Early in their married life, Truman passed away of cancer and Cleo remained in the Cheyenne community where she cared for her family. It was later on July 7th, 1956 she married Lester Ephraim Pierce and together they moved out to the family farm where they added two children, Lester Dale and Wesley Don. Cleo provided for her family by working at the Cheyenne Nursing Home, the local Post Office, and worked for many families cleaning their houses. Even though she and her family had very little in that time she worked every day of her life to make sure her family was provided for. Cleo always enjoyed her chickens and any predator that endangered them were endangered them self. Her gardens were described as "epic", canning and baking were some of her best qualities. The one's that knew Cleo knew where they stood with her and there was never a question of if she loved you or had a cross thought.
She is preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; 1 daughter, Janet; 1 step-son, Wayne Pierce; 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
Cleo is survived by her 3 children, Thomas Green and wife, Gayle, Cheyenne, OK, Dale Pierce, Cheyenne, OK, and Wesley Pierce and wife, Phyllis, Berlin, OK; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Mike Whitson and wife, Sue and a host of other relatives and friends.
