Obituary

Christopher E. Dew, 51, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born June 18, 1973, in Elk City, OK to Cecil and Mary (McLemore) Dew. He graduated from Elk City High School in 1991. Chris married Monica Coleman on October 25, 2003.

Chris, a paramedic, was an EMS Administrator for the Oklahoma State Department of Health. Chris loved his work and the opportunity he had to work with the different public health agencies across the state. He worked diligently to protect the public health and also assisting the varying agencies in being successful in their roles. He also enjoyed interacting with his colleagues from his many years in EMS service and maintained many friendships even after their careers took them on different paths.

In addition to his work, Chris enjoyed watching movies, reading, and being outdoors, especially visiting the OKC Zoo and Martin Nature Park. He loved technology, much to his non-techy wife's dismay. He also took great joy in watching and filming the band and color guard performances of his children. Chris was a member of the Pride of Yukon Band Boosters but also loved to help with the Weatherford High School Winterguard and volunteer with Genesis Drum and Bugle Corps.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Clifford and Jeweldean Dew and Rudolph and Nellie McLemore, aunts Cecilia and Janell, uncles Bobby and Bob, and two angel babies.

Chris is survived by his wife, Monica, parents Cecil and Mary Dew, and children Codie (Bethany) Dew, Carlie (Jacob) Lee, Mika Dew, and Meghan Dew. He is also survived by in-laws David and Jackie Coleman, sister Carie (Wade) Miller, sister-in-law Kimberly (Michael) Edgmon, grandchildren Emrie Dew, Creed Dew, and Jay Lee, nieces Madison and Rylie, and a host of other friends and relatives.

Pallbearers will be Michael Edgmon, Barry Bobbitt, Jerimiah Cheatwood, Tommy Scrimsher, Charles Keith and John Cates. Honorary pallbearers will be former and current coworkers at the Oklahoma State Department of Health EMS and Trauma Divisions.

The family would like to thank Dr. Craig Reitz, Dr. DeKoda Bost, Dr. Blake Badgett, Dr. Travis Garrett, and the nursing staff from Mercy OKC Coletta Infusion Center, Emergency Department, 4AB, 3CD, Hospice, and Weatherford Regional Hospital Med Surg Unit for the exceptional care given to Christopher and our family during his extended illness.
