Charles Eugene Miller was born October 12th, 1955 in Sayre, Oklahoma to Leona (Shelby) and Woodrow Wilson Miller. He passed away in Elk City, Oklahoma on Saturday, August 17th, 2024 at the age of 68 years, 10 months and 5 days.
Charles, known by most as "Gene", grew up in the Mayfield and Erick communities. He attended Sweetwater school beginning in the 1st grade and graduated in 1973. Shortly after graduation, he was married to Pamela Suzanne Thornton and they made their home in the Erick community where they raised their 2 sons. During this time, Gene worked for his in-law's as a carpenter remodeling and building homes. He continued his carpentry work for the better part of 20 years until he went to work for the Department of Transportation. He worked as a supervisor at the Erick rest station and then was transferred to Elk City where he helped maintain I-40. In 2011 Gene worked for Needham Trucking driving a truck hauling water to rig locations. In 2017, Gene semi-retired and moved back to the Miller family farm where he spent his time with chores and farm life. In his younger days, Gene enjoyed hunting, fishing, and attending his sons sporting activities. Later in life he enjoyed "gaming" and spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Rosa Marie Rocha and Mary Ellen Wells; 3 brothers, Carrel Dean Miller, Glen Wilson Miller, and Marlin Joe Miller.
Gene is survived by his 2 sons, Charles "Chuck" Miller, Okarche, OK and Jeffrey Miller and wife, Rachel, Sayre, OK; 3 grandchildren, Dawson Eugene Miller, Caleb Ryan, and Faith Musick; 2 brothers, Earnest Wayne Miller, Edmond, OK and Danny Keith Miller and wife, Jo Lynne, Erick, OK; 1 sister, Betty Ann James, Mayfield, OK and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
