Obituary

Cecil Edler, Sr. of Elk City, Oklahoma passed away peacefully at 6:00 PM on September 15, 2026 at the age of 78 with his wife Beverly, and children at his side after a long battle with kidney failure.

He was born on June 23rd,1948 to the parents of Alphonse Borromeus Edler and Regina Christina Edler in Elk City's Community Hospital. He grew up in Canute along with his brother Tommy Edler of Canute, and attended school at St. Francis and Canute Public Schools. He married the love of his life, Beverly June Mathews of Boise City, Ok, on November 14th, 1968. They raised 4 children during their time together; these being Cecil Edler, Jr., James Edler, Shandy Edler, all of Elk City, and Amber Oliver of Elgin, Ok. Cecil and Beverly lived in El Reno, Ok., and Guymon, Ok., before settling down in Elk City.

They shared 61 years of life together, raising kids, working an assortment of jobs, raising cattle and hay, and cutting a lot of heads of hair. He was dedicated to his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and his faith, and truly loved his brothers and sisters of his faith. He was a great person to give you an honest opinion, or answer, hurtful or not, whether asked for or not. He knew how to make money raising cattle, which isn't easy, if you've tried. He was funny. He always spoke truthfully, whether you liked it or not. He did not hide who he was or what we were about. He liked to brag about his children and grandchildren, but only if they weren't present. He was a true character and a powerful life force. We could use more of these, presently. He will be greatly missed.
