Cynthia Catherine Knisley was born December 2nd, 1951 in Center City, Texas to Fred Young and the mother that raised her, Freoda Young. She passed away Tuesday, June 7th, 2022 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 70 years, 6 months and 5 days. Cynthia, known by many as "Cathy", grew up moving around following her father in the military. As a young girl they moved to Elk City where Cathy attended school. At the early age of 11 she obtained employment at Records Cafe' in Elk City and remained there for a long period of time. She made her home in Elk City and later in life continued working in the restaurant industry as a waitress and hostess. She also worked at the Elk's Lodge for several years before her retirement. Cathy enjoyed writing books, gardening in her flowerbeds, cooking, and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; 2 sons, Tony Smith and Lee Smith; granddaughter, Ashley Garcia. Cathy is survived by her 2 children, Samantha Smith, Elk City, OK and Gary Smith, Oklahoma City, OK; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Gary Rutledge and James Rutledge; 1 sister, Joy Rutledge and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 13th, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the Fairlawn Chapel under the direction of Chris Whinery and the staff of Affordable Cremation Service-West.
