Cathy Belle Pruitt McCamon, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2026, at the age of 66 years, 4 months, and 26 days, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on April 3, 1960, in Yuba City, California to Mack Roy Pruitt Sr. and Maxine (Woods) Pruitt. At the age of seven, Cathy moved with her family to Oklahoma, where she attended Elk City schools. She was the fifth of seven children.

On October 1, 1977, Cathy married the love of her life, Gregg McCamon, in Elk City. Together they built a life centered around their family. They welcomed their daughter Shelly in 1980, their son Steven in 1983, and their daughter Kelly in 1985.

Being a mother was one of Cathy's greatest joys. She loved her children fiercely and made sure they always knew how deeply they were loved. She spent countless nights reading to them, creating memories that would remain with them throughout their lives. Her family was her greatest priority.

Cathy also treasured being a grandmother. She loved her grandchildren with her whole heart and was always there for them. She was the grandmother who would listen, help, encourage, spoil, and love them unconditionally. Her grandchildren brought her immense joy, and she was proud of each of them.

Cathy spent much of her working life caring for others. She worked at several daycare centers in Elk City. She loved each of her daycare babies and continued to carry a special place in her heart for the children she cared for. She also worked as a caregiver for the elderly. Caring for others was not simply her job-it was who Cathy was.

Cathy was a kind, caring, and generous person who was always thinking about someone else. She loved finding a good bargain and could rarely go shopping without finding something she thought someone she loved needed. One of her favorite things to do was spending a day shopping, finding good deals. and then going out to eat somewhere new. She found joy in the simple things, especially when she could share them with the people she loved.

Above all else, Cathy loved her family. Her children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, and nephews were such an important part of her life. She gave so much of herself to the people around her and left a legacy of love, compassion, generosity, and devotion to family.

Cathy is preceded in death by her beloved grandson, Corbin Beasterfeld; great-granddaughter, Ava Beasterfeld; her parents, Mack Roy Pruitt Sr and Maxine Pruitt; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Mack Jr. and Virginia Pruitt and Ronnie and Roxie Pruitt; sister-in law, Glenda White; and her parents-in-law, Glen and Valeria McCamon.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of nearly 49 years, Gregg McCamon; daughter Shelly Garrison and husband Brad of Elk City; son Steven McCamon and wife Kimberly of Elk City; daughter Kelly Hernandez and husband Aaron of Perryton, Texas; and her beloved grandchildren, Bryce Garrison, Laurissa McCamon, Kaiden McCamon, Kaiston McCamon, Keegan McCamon, Kextan McCamon, and Abigail Laub.

She is also survived by her sisters Audrey Wilmoth and husband Richard, Vicky Williams and husband James, Cindy Pruitt, and Nancy Pruitt; sister-in-law Lavera Sorensen; brothers-in-law John McCamon and Craig McCamon; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who loved her dearly.

Cathy was the heart of her family, and her love was felt by so many. Her absence will leave an immeasurable emptiness, but the love she gave so freely will live on through her children, grandchildren, and the many people whose lives she touched.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort knowing that Cathy is no longer suffering and is once again with those she loved who went before her. Heaven has gained a beautiful soul, while her family here on earth will carry her memory in their hearts forever.
