Billy "Bill" Mills

Billy "Bill" Mills, age 85, of Lake Foss, Oklahoma, went home to be with the Lord on October 20, 2025, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Bill was born on March 9, 1940, in Logan, Oklahoma, to Galen and Pearl Mills. He grew up in Logan, where he attended Sunset School and later continued his education in Darrouzett, Texas. Bill began his first job as a roughneck on oil drilling rigs before proudly serving his country in the United States Army beginning in 1961.

On July 4, 1963, fate brought him together with the love of his life, Shirley Brake, on a blind date. The two were married on December 5, 1963, beginning a beautiful journey that would take them from Missouri to Texas and, finally, to their beloved home at Lake Foss, Oklahoma.

Bill was a man of quiet strength and unwavering devotion. He worked tirelessly throughout his life, always providing for his family, who were his greatest joy. He and Shirley shared countless happy days fishing, playing cards, and spending time with their children and grandchildren. His deep love for his grandsons was evident in every word he spoke and every moment he spent with them.

Bill was a member of the First Baptist Church of Butler, Oklahoma, and a proud member of the Masonic Lodge in Perryton, Texas. Those who knew him will remember his kind spirit, his strong work ethic, and his heart of pure gold.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Galen and Pearl Mills, and by his cousin, Dennis Gensman, who was more like a brother to him.

He is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 62 years, Shirley Mills; his son Robert Mills of Weatherford, Oklahoma; and his daughter Gaila Renae Parton and son-in-law Troy Parton of Munday, Texas. Bill was a proud grandfather to Austin and Hannah Parton of Georgetown, Texas, Cole and Grace Parton of Coppell, Texas, and Zane Parton of Lubbock, Texas. He is also survived by his brother Riley Mills and sister-in-law Linda Mills of Trophy Club, Texas; brother-in-law George Brake of Birch Tree, Missouri; sister-in-law Elaine Brake of Willow Springs, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews who dearly loved their Uncle Bill.

Bill will be missed beyond words by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of love, integrity, and devotion to family will live on forever in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
