Betty Rose Ashley was born on March 26,1940 to Richard Blease and Lillie Mae (Coon) Ashley in Honea Path, SC. She passed on July 18, 2025 at the age of 85 years, 3 months, and 22 days.
Betty grew up in Honea Path along with her 12 brothers and sisters. She attended Honea Path school until the 8th grade. Betty worked a multitude of different jobs throughout her lifetime, being a musician was her favorite. She traveled with her brother, Grady Norris; her stage name was Ramblin Rose. They traveled to Nashville, TN to record their first album, "No Thanks to You". She independently wrote four of the songs on the album, which won her the Artistic Trailblazer award. Among being a musician, Betty also enjoyed reading, crocheting, and playing bingo at Hensley's Nursing Home where she lived for the last 15 years of her life.
She is preceded in death by her parents Richard and Lillie Mae Ashley, two sons Dickie and Daniel Netz, daughter Donna Pace, and 10 brothers and sisters.
Betty is survived by her two daughters Gracia Shannon and husband Bill of Sayre, OK and Betty Jo Richards and husband Jim of Corsicana, TX; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; two brothers Tommy Ashley and Manuel Ashley; many nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends, including the staff at Hensley's Nursing Home.
