Bettie Marcia Sanders was born June 23rd, 1934 in Roger Mills County, Oklahoma right on the 100th Meridian, to Gracie Ruth (Jones) and Ernest Adams McRae. She passed away in Elk City, Oklahoma on Sunday, June 23rd, 2024 at the age of 90 years.

Bettie grew up on the family farm between the 100th Meridian and Sweetwater, Oklahoma. She attended school in Erick, Oklahoma where she graduated in 1952. During her senior year she was married to Hershel Leroy Sanders in Clovis, New Mexico on March 10th, 1952. After their marriage they made Pampa, Texas their home following Hershel's employment. They moved to Sayre, Oklahoma where they continued to raise their family and Bettie worked at Peach's Variety Store and Blackwoods Confectionery, Candy Cane Lane Nursery, co-owned and operated the Sayre Skating Rink. Together Bettie and Hershel owned and operated 3 different service stations there in Sayre at different times. Bettie later worked at Sayre Memorial Hospital and Northfork Electric before her health forced her retirement. In what little spare time Bettie had, she enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends. She lived life to the fullest, loved with all she had and made everyone feel important and welcome in her home.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hershel; son, Venoy Sanders; 4 sisters; and 1 brother.

Bettie is survived by her 4 children, Remona Louise Compton, Maple Falls, WA, Terry Lee Sanders and wife, Karen, Sayre, OK, Karla Irene Sanders and Poppy, Haughton, LA, Lorinda Dion Nielsen and husband, Earl, Newalla, OK; 10 grandchilren; 16 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
