Bessie Corene (Grimes) Brobst was born January 16th, 1953 in Canyon, Texas to Elsie Mae (Newkirk) and John Buster Grimes. She passed away at her home in Elk City, Oklahoma on Friday, September 8th, 2023 at the age of 70 years, 7 months and 23 days.

Bessie moved with her parents at the age of 5 from California to Shamrock, Texas where she attended school. In 1971 she graduated from Shamrock High School and started her family. In 1991 she met and was married to Edward Brobst on December 29th, 1991. Together they made their home in Elk City. She was a homemaker and also worked home healthcare in western Oklahoma. Bessie enjoyed cooking, caring for animals, volunteering at Western Oklahoma Animal Rescue, gardening, scrapbooking, photography, and repurposing furniture but her passion in life was her family and spending time with them.

She is preceded in death by her parents; 1 daughter, Angel Copeland; 4 siblings, JT Grimes, Linda Palmer, Phil Grimes, and Gene Grimes.

Bessie is survived by her husband, Ed, of the home; 5 children, Ashley Biggers and husband, Daren, Gunnison, CO, Elizabeth Brobst, Alberquerque, NM, Bryan Copeland and wife, Taron, Elk City, OK, Katie Johnson and husband, Chase, Elk City, OK, Jenny Brobst, Elk City, OK; 8 grandchildren, Evan, Elliot, Olivia, Carter, Kaylee, Lily, Leo, and Rylan and a host of other relatives and friends.
