Amelia Marin was born August 4th, 1937 in Odem, Texas to Maria (Sanchez) and Herlindo Merdrano. She passed away at her home in Elk City, Oklahoma on Friday, November 24th, 2023 at the age of 86 years, 3 months and 20 days.
Amelia grew up in Mathis, Texas where she attended school. She spent many hours in farmers fields picking produce and chopping cotton with her family. In 1961, Amelia met the love of her life, Vicente Marin and they were later married in Clinton, Oklahoma. Together they moved around following work, but spent the majority of the married life in Floydada, Texas and Elk City, Oklahoma. They were blessed with 5 daughters and Amelia spent countless hours blessing her family before leaving the house, at bedtime and that continued from her daughters to her grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She also made it a point to watch the Price Is Right and watching movies on the Hallmark channel.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 59 years, Vicente Marin; infant son, Vicente Marin, Jr.; siblings, Anita Resio, Odilia Sandoval, Dominga Zapata, Maria Deleon, Alfredo Mendrano, Jose Mendrano, Ruben Mendrano; and one son-in-law Stanley Holley.
Amelia is survived by her 5 daughters, Raquel Holley, Elk City, OK, Dora Marin, Elk City, OK, Nelda Marin, Elk City, OK, Delia Marin, Elk City, OK, and Norma Marin Harris, Elk City, OK; 4 grandchildren, Vincent Holley, Kevin Holley, Deidra Haney and husband, Andrew, and Jonathan Harris and wife, Kaysee; 9 great grandchildren, Kadance, Stanley, Kaylie, Kian, Kingsley, Kyrah, Brooklynn, Titus, and Josiah; 2 siblings, Herlinda Soliz and Juanna Estrada; a special dear friend, Shelly Whitson as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, other longtime wonderful friends and neighbors.
